A new Acellus CTE and fine arts course is now available to high school students – Collaborative Theatre.
The course, which is the latest Acellus CTE offering, also provides an additional fine arts elective for students who are interested in this field.
Students receive a broad but detailed overview of theatre arts, including topics such as costuming, make-up, set construction, and box office sales.
Read the details about the new Acellus Collaborative Theatre course on my Acellus Blog for Educators.
This course is much too involved to be a single course. Rather than an overview of theater, it is a detailed history going back hundreds of years with excessive amounts of questions. Students are expected to memorize a lot of unnecessary information. This should be split into two courses: History of Theater and Theater Design. Combining such detailed history while teaching about theater composition ends up giving the class no focus. It feels like a theater major wants to tell you everything they learned over multiple semesters.
